New beams replace rotted sill. This will get covered with sheeting and the new porch framing. Notice all the dirt removal done to protect the new structure from future rot and decay.
Sheeting is placed on the new structure and the porch foundation laid. Could you or your inspector detect covered rot that had not been replaced? A fun shot of both the old and new front dormers...
The old gable is gone and we're ready for a new roof! Roofers hard at work while exterior trim is in progress.
Another perspective of the new gable (and roofers!). Note the reused siding on the side of the house has been installed. Can you tell those windows were moved?. New porch, roof, gable shake siding, facia, trim and beaded board porch ceiling. Almost ready for exterior paint.
The driveway went in during this phase so as to efficiently coordinate concrete work. All new footings were poured simultaneously. The beautiful tree in the front yard is going to be much happier with the old concrete steps removed...
Deck footings and stair pad are ready. The framing will get completed during weeks 7 and 8. We reuse anything we can when it makes economical and practical sense. Here is a door and insulation material stored for use on this project.
The cardboard from our projects get taken to a recycling center along with bags of plastic bottles. Some of this siding was used to cover old window locations in the side-view photo above.
